Anthony Falgout
Fly Tyer • Instructor • Warmwater & Saltwater Angler
I live in Youngsville, Louisiana, and grew up just a few miles from where I live today. A few years ago, when my youngest child started college, I felt the need to find a hobby. I dove headfirst into fly tying and soon discovered what I am now known for within the fly-tying community: my unique hand-painted, stippled and pointillism-style poppers and sliders.I owe much of my artistic style to two influential fly tyers. The first is Burly Johnson of Natchitoches, Louisiana, creator of the renowned Cane River Popper. The second is Ron Braud of Prairieville, Louisiana, who taught many of us the art of stippling and pointillism. While I have developed my own techniques and artistic approach over time, I credit both of these talented craftsmen with sparking my passion and inspiring my journey. The final element of my style comes from my late grandmother. I spent much of my childhood in her ceramic studio, where I was surrounded by creativity, color, and craftsmanship. Those early experiences left a lasting impression and continue to influence my work today.

Karen Royer
Fly Tyer • Author • Angler
Karen Royer is an internationally recognized fly tier and published author with over 30 years of experience. Her book “The Art of Tying Realistic Flies” was published in 2018. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, her family now resides in Hartsville, Tennessee. Throughout the year she gives presentations at numerous venues across the U.S.A. An artist at heart, Karen specializes in creating and tying her own “Fishable Realistic” patterns. Although she appreciates and admires the plethora of existing patterns available, following someone else’s patterns was just not in her nature. She remains passionate about not contributing to the continued pollution of our waters and therefore developed her patterns using only natural materials. Inspired, mentored and encouraged by the likes of Bob Mead, Jackson Leong, and the late Bill Blackstone, and David Martin, she plans on continuing to develop new realistic patterns and completing a second pattern book in the future.

Scott Mentzer
Fly Tyer • Angler • Educator
A 30 year veteran at the vise, Scott is the tier behind Snowbird Fly Tying. Originally from Massachusetts and now based in Fort Myers, Florida, Scott keeps feet in both worlds and many places in between. He ties a bit of everything: trout flies, classic hair wing Atlantic Salmon patterns, and plenty of saltwater patterns. Lately the focus has been on Bonefish Flies as he has tied all the flies for the Bahamas Bonefish Tournament series for the past 2 years.
Time on the water has taken him to places like Alaska, Montana, Nova Scotia, the Bahamas, and Patagonia as well as the Eastern US.
Scott leans toward traditional patterns with a focus on durability so they last longer and fish a little harder. He’d rather see a fly get chewed up from use than sit untouched in a box looking pretty.
You can follow Scott on Instagram: (@Snowbirdflytying), Facebook: (Snowbirdflytying), or at Snowbirdflytying.com. He is also a familiar presence at national and regional fly-fishing shows, including the International Fly Tying Symposium.Symposium. He is also a member of the Ahrex Hooks Pro Staff and provides flies for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Annual Bonefish Tournament Series.

Bruce Corwin
Fly Tyer • Artist • Educator
My name is Bruce Corwin and I own a Graphic Design/Marketing and Printing company in New York State, about 30 minutes north of New York City. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and was fortunate enough as a youngster to spend summers in the Catskills where I learned to fish and appreciate being outdoors. My days were filled with discovery and education while I explored the treasures of a nearby small creek. One day during a hot July in the early 60’s, a kindly farmer offered to allow myself and a friend the chance to fish his little, stream-fed pond. He asked if we had ever caught a trout before and instructed us to “throw back” anything we caught. He handed each of us a mysterious looking contraption that he called a “fly” to put on the end of our lines along with a small, clear bubble float. And then, leaning in and covering his mouth, the secret… “don’t bother fishing until almost dark”. Needless to say, the only thing hooked that day was yours truly!
I love all types of fishing but have spent the last 40 plus years with a fly rod in hand. As a graphic artist and designer, fly tying was a natural extension of my creative side. It allowed me to stay close to fishing through the winter months. I’m involved in multiple fly fishing/tying groups including: The Hudson Valley Fly Fishers, Ray Bergman Chapter of TU, Catskill Fly Tiers Guild, Theodore Gordon Fly Fishers, and Joan Wulff Fly Fishers. I’m a former New York State Licensed Guide and have tied flies at numerous fly tying events including: The Mayfly Club, Art of the Angler’s Show, Fly Tier’s Rendezvous, The International Fly Tying Symposium and the Fly Fishing Show at Somerset, NJ, Lancaster, PA, and Raleigh, NC.
I’ve published a tying book called “A Fishers Art” and my flies appear in numerous publications including Fly Tyer Magazine.
